Bestselling author and matchmaker extraordinaire Hellen Chen has a mission in hand. After helping at least 100 unwilling singles to nod their heads and become married, she continues to travel the world to counsel more singles who have given up on the idea of a perfect relationship.

Flying in from Los Angeles, she is bringing the message of one can fall in love forever to Singapore on June 21st Saturday in a special seminar for singles and married couples who are looking to improve their relationships and love life.

According to a new report by the University of Virginia National Marriage Project called Knot Yet: The Benefits and Costs of Delayed Marriage in America,” the age at which men and women marry is now at the highest of all time 27 for women, and 29 for men.

According to the Singapore Department of Statistics, the median age of marriage for Singapore women is 28. And median age for men is 30 higher than the US statistics.

The latest survey by the National Population and Talent Division of Singapore singles revealed trying to save money for housing and wedding as the top reason for delaying marriage. Another major reason is career.

“Somewhere along the line in the last 2 decades, marriage becomes less important than career and making money,” said Chen. “Most people think that a marriage is something that will automatically fall in place once they have career achievements and once they find the right person. This is so far from the truth.”

Chen has seen countless marriages ended up in divorces despite both husbands and wives being tremendously outstanding in their careers and have been touted as the “perfect” couple.

“We have more tools of finding a match in modern times, a lot more than what our parents and grandparents have had. Yet in Asia and in the western world, divorce rates are going up drastically in the last 20 years,” said Chen, So finding a Mr Right or Ms Right does not guarantee success in marriage.

About the notion that it is better to wait to have more money before embarking onto marriage, Hellen Chen explained, “Family math is different. One plus one is always more than two. When you marry and then work together and produce together, you can create more economic stability. And having a marriage first is more beneficial in the long run than wait until all ducks are in a row.”

“Everyone I met has at one point longed for a great relationship. But after ones own failures, that desire turned into disbelief and turned into hopelessness.” said Chen.

From a deep passion about marriage, Chen wrote 25 books on the subject and her recent book releases “The Matchmaker of the Century” and Hellen Chens Love Seminarboth became a number one best seller in marriage books at Barnes and Noble.

Chens works in family, marriage and personal developments are featured in over 200 media publications in 20 countries. She has been a frequent guest on independent and network radio and TV shows on FOX, CBS, NBC and ABC etc.

Her upcoming Singapore event “Hellen Chens Love Seminar” on Saturday June 21st is for singles and married couples and it will be held at Rendezvous Grand Hotel from 2-5pm.

She will be holding a Love Communication workshop on June 21st Saturday as well about how not to be tongue-tied or embarrassed when its time to express love to someone close to you.

Chens workshop is specially designed for the hardworking Singaporeans to learn love communication skills beyond the schools and workplace, Chen smiled.
